Beer & Barbecue in Guerneville

Russian River Beer Revival and BBQ Cookoff, August 21, 2010

What better way to spend a Saturday in August: drinking beer and eating BBQ.

The guys at Stumptown have a great spot to hang out year-round, so we’re glad to see they’ve come up with a worthy way to draw attention to themselves and their cause: great beer and barbecue.

Peter and Brian, the guys behind Stumptown, first started with a bar called Zeitgeist in San Francisco. This biker bar (think bike messengers by day who ride motorcycles for their real commutes) has a great back patio that’s filled on SF’s few sunny weekends with locals drinking pitchers of microbrews and eating barbecue off paper plates. I was amazed the first time I ordered a plate of BBQ there–it was actually delicious, and I’ve respected Zeitgeist as a right-on place for a beer and dinner ever since.
